Lujayn (b. 1997) is a self-taught painter based in Bahrain, working in oil and acrylic. Her work explores the interior lives of women: the roles they are expected to inhabit, and the quieter, more complicated selves beneath them. A recurring blue figure carries this tension between visibility and concealment. She is present but set apart, familiar but never fully readable.

Alongside this, Lujayn paints Bahrain from within, drawing on childhood memory, local subcultures, and the ordinary details of daily life that are easily overlooked. Through flattened perspective and saturated colour, both bodies of work share one impulse: to pay attention to what is lived but rarely said.

Her work has been exhibited in Bahrain and the Netherlands, including Meaningful/less at Alriwaq, Bahrain (2025), and [re/dis]cover, Netherlands (2019).
